Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The end of the bipolar conflict has exacerbated the difficulties of geopolitical analysis: in a more complex world tending to a new multipolarity the traditional analysis criteria are separated. This is particularly true for the Middle East and for the Mediterranean basin, whose geopolitical perception has changed considerably following radical international changes. The last two decades have in fact seen a colossal redistribution of power and prestige at the international level, especially in the Middle East, with a decisive spatial reconfiguration of the system. For a country like Italy, geographically at the center of the Mediterranean, it is therefore crucial to start a study on the future scenarios of the region, in order to identify the possible lines of continuity and discontinuity of the geopolitical framework, in the light of our national interests. What must move us is the awareness that, whatever the structure of the Mediterranean in 2035, our country will continue to be one of the geopolitical pivot, whose security and interests will only remain deeply intertwined with the dynamics and changing scenarios of this sea.
