Abstract

The pandemic we have been facing for some months now, a truly historical experience, has encouraged “multidisciplinary” reflection on the theme of epidemics. This paper is part of a dossier who proposes some elements of information on epidemics in the ancient and medieval world. It deals with famous cases such as the plague of Athens, the Antonine plague, Justinian’s plague, the plague of the 14th century and also pay attention to themes of ancient medicine and to social and cultural issues .
