Abstract

This article discusses the book Coscienza storica e impegno civile. Saggi in onore di Mario Miegge (2015) and considers some aspects of the historian and philosopher Mario Miegge (1932-2014), peculiar and significant personality of the Italian Left in the second mid-1990’s. It underlines Miegge’s importance as public intellectual and explores his Waldensian background as well as the main lines of his social engagement and research interests.
