Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] An ancient, very ancient fable, written in exile, in the burning world of '42. More than a "free transcription" of Andersen's fable, Marguerite Yourcenar's Little Mermaid is a profound rewrite, in which Homeric veins intertwine with the Elizabethan Baroque. In the background, the confused, miserable, vacuous humanity, crossed by the Little Mermaid - a hybrid, migrant creature, whose rise, perhaps, concerns us.
