Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Among the aesthetic issues shared by Manzoni in Fauriel's circle at the beginning of the nineteenth century, the debate on the nature and usefulness of the idyll genre seems to be the privileged way that leads the young poet to question some of his own models and to face the problems of verisimilitude and the choice of language for a new poetry, both linked to the question of the morality of literature. Through Fauriel's work on Baggesen's idyll, Manzoni in fact accesses the revolutionary proposal launched by Goethe with Hermann und Dorothea and appreciated by Schlegel and von Humboldt; but also to Schiller's aesthetic thought and, indirectly, to Kant's. Since the Parisian years, therefore, Manzoni places himself in dialogue with the most important European voices starting from the idyll genre, which, although ostracized by a certain criticism, perhaps deserves a further investigation that brings to light the sign left in the formation and in Manzonian meditation.
