Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The idea of publishing a book on psychological intervention in the penitentiary field, agile in structure and simple consultation on the proposed themes, responds to the need to deliver a guide easily accessible to the interested reader. The target population to which the volume is addressed is represented primarily by the young professionals of the psyche, engaged in the difficult attempt to orient themselves between "real cells" and "cultural cells" to which, this book, intends to show in what terms should be conceived and interpreted the tasks of the psychologist in the specific context of the penitentiary. The chapters that will accompany the reader, therefore, without the pretense of wanting to be exhaustive, attempt to trace a path of operational praxis, aimed at linking the main conceptual issues related to the relationship between content and container, between prison and health, between transgressive individual author of crime and the society of law and human sciences. The book can thus be thought, metaphorically, as a compass to make the journey less tortuous and the knowledge more fluid and to constitute a valid study aid for university students in the health, pedagogical, juridical and social area who attend the related courses. basic and post / basic training. Many of the basic concepts and institutions of the penitentiary system are being revised under the pressure of profound national and global social transformations, expanding boundaries and designing new socio-anthropological horizons, not always easy or easy to understand. Criminal phenomenology itself, under the pressure of these changes, is exposed to obvious changes that force the system to develop new responses to different forms of crime. In relation to these changes, it appeared useful to report, in the appendix, some of the legislative innovations that support and guide the psychological intervention, both of the Expert and of the professional of the regional Health Service. Since we are talking about professionals who interact with other professionals and are confronted with inmates-patient-persons, to better understand what arises from such complex relationships, it seems useful to borrow the group field concept, that is to say the context of synergies and skills in which the professionals of the various sectors characterizing the penal context are immersed, both the restricted environment in which the people to whom their interventions are addressed and their work live. This choice does not make the manual anything other than what it intends to be ab origine, that is, a tool to clarify how the professional psychologist - and in return all other care and help professions - must relate to the individual towards whom his work addresses itself, in a dimension built on respect, on impartiality - which abolishes prejudice on the victim - and, of course, on competence. The reader is left with the judgment regarding the compliance of our intentions with their respective needs. We can only hope that it has been positive.
