Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Violence against children can take many forms: from neglect, to physical and psychological abuse, to sexual abuse, to witnessing violence against others. This volume traces each form of violence through the Italian epidemiological data currently available and the operational classifications, in which the omissions and/or commissions against young victims are placed and realized. The consequences (short, medium and long term) of exposure to violence at the level of cognitive, emotional, relational and personality development are also described, with specific attention to attachment and post-traumatic outcomes. Finally, tools and practices for the evaluation of parenting skills in situations of prejudice are proposed. Investigation protocols are presented and evaluation methodologies are described through the use of tools aimed at collecting information regarding the critical issues in dysfunctional parenting methods. A useful tool for all professionals working in the field of mental health and prevention in developmental age
