Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The name rheumatic disease has now replaced in Italy the old name of "acute joint rheumatism", because it does not correspond to the reality of the disease in children. This disease affects many organs and systems, including joints, heart and central nervous system, and is the consequence, after 2-3 weeks, of a pharyngeal infection due to group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus. I describe the clinical features useful for the diagnosis and the treatment and prevention modalities.
