[Autom. eng. transl.] In this essay we want to investigate the principle under which it is possible to collect the common characteristics of the pioneering texts of postmodernism, through the image given by Arab researchers. The "loss of centrality" does not seem to be a postmodern "condition", but rather the end and point of arrival of the attempt made by Ihab Hassan - and others like him - to define postmodernism. These attempts show that there is no inability to find a definition, but a precise epistemological will and strategy to avoid it. In fact, postmodernism does not only strive to break down the dominion of the "center", but also every possibility that a new one appears. Only the complete disappearance of the center can guarantee, in fact, that we do not return to the margins. In this essay, therefore, a new interpretation of postmodernism is offered, starting from the assumption that the opposition between modernism and postmodernism is actually a fictitious opposition, since postmodernism is only a continuous effort to widen the narrow circle of a given aesthetic value or epistemological, moving from the circle of existence to that of being.
