Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The theme of using religious buildings for profane uses has recently been attracting the interest of part of the doctrine. It is not a question of simple attention to a subject that has so far been little studied, but of the response to a concrete need that arises from the difficulty of finding one's bearings with respect to a very articulated topic that has quite significant practical implications. The presence of churches in our country reaches, in fact, numbers so consistent that they do not allow any distraction regarding these problems. A consideration that applies especially to the aspects linked to the "cultural" uses of these buildings, generally connected by the scholars of our disciplines to the theme of abandoned buildings of worship. In reality the subject of the use of churches for non-cult purposes appears even more articulated, although the profiles just mentioned undoubtedly represent the most significant expressions. In addition to profane "cultural" uses, "different" forms of use can also be found which are not necessarily linked to the dismantling of the building.
