Abstract
Simmel's lesson highlights some weaknesses of the anthropological vision that supports the modern and, in some ways, also the post-modern socio-economic model: the individual-society dualism. He indentifies some challenges in terms of thought and practice in order to overcome the dualism, but whithout slipping in monism - the biggest of all being the challenge of re-thinking the origin and its 'unity'. In this way, Simmel outlines an alternative conceptualisation of the individual-society relationship.
