Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Copenhagen 1855, a man enters the city hospital and says he is ready to die, he is only 42 years old and the well-known face of Søren Kierkegaard. One of the most controversial philosophers and writers of his time, a seducer and martyr, an existentialist ante litteram and a rebel theologian to the established Church, Kierkegaard has reached the end of an extreme and paradoxical existence, put to the end in search of a unity higher in body and spirit, and now that the "battle" is about to end, it traces it from the beginning in the light of its disagreements and of the two figures that have marked it: the father, with his severe religiosity, enclosed in a tormented sense of guilt and duty, and Regine Olsen, her great love, which conquers and then abandons her to remain an ideal to pursue for the rest of her life, a sacrifice in the name of her mission, to the point of saying: "All that I wrote, I wrote it for her. ”Through diaries, letters and the impetuous literary production, Dalager tells the man behind a philosopher who has drawn his thoughts from a personal journey of life: from the limits of hedonism to the ver origin of ethical choice, from the impossibility of knowledge to the "leap" in faith in which it can satisfy its need for the infinite. And starting from this interweaving of philosophy and life he portrays a precursor of contemporary sensibility, which has opposed to every system the urgency of probing the individual, calling himself "a frontier soldier" and a poet-thinker, the poet of love , of thought and faith.
