Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] A research conducted among the first graduates of the University of Italian Switzerland, founded in 1996, makes it possible to identify a new linguistic profile characteristic of the situation in the region: the official language of the Canton Ticino is Italian, but a considerable percentage of professors and students of USI speak other languages, European and extra-European. USI encourages multilingualism with curricula that contain at least three languages. Personal plurilingualism is a central resource for these young graduates in their first job search.
