Abstract
The essay analyzes the evolution of Luigi Einaudi's contributions to understanding banking, financial, and monetary issues. The study is articulated into four periods, coinciding with different phases of Einaudi's work as a renowned writer and economic commentator: the liberal era (1896-1914), the First World War and post-war period (18915-1925), the fascist regime (1925-1943), and Italy's reconstruction (1943-1961).
The essay constitutes an introduction to the Repertoire edited by Carlo Cristiano, comprising approximately 1300 writings dedicated by Einaudi to topics pertaining to the banking system, the financial markets, and the control of money.
