Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay considers a twentieth-century chapter of the fortune of the famous prosatiresco drama of Euripides, revisited for the occasion in a modern key, against the background of a country just emerged from the enormous catastrophe of the war. The Alcesti of Alvaro is the bearer of an optimism of hope that, fragile but tenacious, does not accept to surrender to the pessimism of fear and faces with confidence the life that starts again every time.
