Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] This work is based on several years of experience in the music therapy field, within a team that deals with the rehabilitation of post-comatose patients. The ARICO team (Association for the Rehabilitation of Comatosis) is the operational part of an association between operators and users, created in 1989 in Milan and directed by Prof. Cecilia Morosini; the team, made up of physiatrists, resuscitators, rehabilitation therapists, neuropsychologists, music therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, pursues the goal of providing an intensive and comprehensive treatment, generally in an out-of-hospital setting, of the post-comatose patient. The music therapy activities described in this contribution concern a discipline that has been developing for several years: confirming music therapy. A modality of approach that sees the union between music therapy techniques (especially singing, in this initial phase of the treatment of coma) and psychotactile communication, to use Veldman's terminology, with which levels of contact can be reached very high affective-confirming, while respecting the precious personal intimate space. A contact that easily recalls and elicits very pleasant feelings of well-being, protection, safety, familiarity, confidence in those who receive it.
