Abstract
During the ceremony of ducal coronation in St. Ambrose church (1395) the
bishop of Novara Peter of Candia, after archbishop of Milan and antipope
Alexander V, pronounced a speech in honour of Gian Galeazzo Visconti,
exalting the new duke’s virtues, emperor Venceslaus’ generosity and the
excellence of the city of Milan. A critical edition of this speech, which represents
a interesting example of courtly rethoric in XIVth century Milan, is
provided here, basing on the MS Milan, Ambr. B 116 sup.
