Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] In Italy the psychology applied to the health world has a history of commitment and growth, but a tiring present. Certainly not due to the lack of validated operational models or doubts about their effectiveness, but perhaps due to their resistance to giving them a voice in the hard language that has now become sensibly a priority: the economic one. If psychology wants to enter health institutions bringing its contribution, it must learn to describe it also in terms of cost-effectiveness and cost-utility relationships; must demonstrate how much and what health can be generated and how much disease can be prevented or contained by investing in targeted psychological interventions, similar to what happens in other countries. There is an evidence-based psychology that makes this possibility concrete and constitutes an essential reference to which constant updating must tend. This book offers a perspective from which to observe many of the great potentials of psychological knowledge applied to the health world and offers the right voice with which to bring it to the attention of those who do not know it yet, or of those who already know it and want to continue to believe it. Psychologists, psychotherapists, doctors, psychiatrists, psychology students, human and social sciences, medicine are the main recipients of this text that aims to demonstrate that psychology can constitute a productive investment in the medium and long term for a medicine that has to find new balances and new answers to the needs of a constantly changing society.
