[Autom. eng. transl.] How can a company - especially a small or medium-sized company - undertake a virtuous development process? What possibilities does the entrepreneur have to govern this path consciously and efficiently, in order to give lasting success to his company? To adequately answer these questions, we need to analyze how the development process can take place within SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises), first of all evaluating which factors can hinder or favor this process. The analysis of the evolutionary paths of the company is carried out starting from an in-depth analysis of the strategic and organizational implications of the four peculiarities that distinguish, on an institutional level, SMEs: having entrepreneurial leadership, adopting simple organizational structures , apply on the markets more limited competitive strategies than large companies and often present an overlap of company dynamics with those of the owner family. These peculiarities of SMEs are discussed and analyzed in depth, in the various chapters, to highlight how they can evolve in the context of business development processes. Furthermore, the book proposes a model of governance of the path of entrepreneurial development, designed specifically for small businesses that intend to accept the challenge of change and set an evolutionary path that allows them to exploit the opportunities and face the challenges of an external environment in profound change .
