Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The volume retraces the main stages of the socio-economic reflection applied to the theme of local development, focusing on the many forms in which local development is declined, from the "spontaneous" one of the industrial district to the "built" one of the scientific and technological park, up to to the so-called "global cities", nerve centers of the world economy, but also places where the risks of social exclusion associated with the relocation of productive and innovative dynamics are more visible. This analytical perspective, which aims to recognize and enhance local actors in their role as protagonists of development itself, is accompanied by the awareness that development must be a shared project, both as a result of the contribution of different subjectivities, and in that it is expression of that inclusive tension that should animate the promotion strategies at the local level. In particular, a more specific in-depth study is dedicated to these, from which emerges the substantial convergence that, in the literature and in the publications on these issues, is recorded with respect to the objectives of exploiting endogenous resources, encouraging consultation between local actors , of democratization of life and work chances, of combination of economic growth and social cohesion. What is called into question is the ability of the local society to produce solidarity, but above all its "quality", also understood as the ability to make wellness choices aimed at the future.
