Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] According to estimates by the United Nations, more than half of the world's population already resides in urban areas. Share destined to reach 60% by 2030 and over 70% in 2050. The UN itself, identifying urbanization as one of the most significant trends that will mark the next decades, highlights that almost 10% of the urban population lives in cities with over 10 million inhabitants and that the increase in the presence in the urban environment it is also occurring in medium and small-sized centers. A generalized urban race is therefore taking place, with different forms and methods, both mature conurbations such as those in Europe and North America, and emerging conurbations such as those found in developing countries
