[Autom. eng. transl.] The Simmelian figure of the foreigner is particularly significant not only in relation to the theme of coexistence between people of different cultures, but with reference to the vision of man. The latter, to resume the same German author, constitutes the frame of any representation of the social, of models of coexistence and of socio-economic development. The foreigner becomes the emblem of the same human identity that, in itself, hosts alterity: in fact, for Simmel, peculiarity of the ego and otherness are co-original dimensions of human identity.
