Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The research that the book presents, born from the collaboration between the Relational Social Work Research Center of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart and the CISL Emilia-Romagna National Pensioners Federation, began in the first period of the health emergency, when the need arose to question the social consequences of what was happening in the homes for the elderly. What effects did the interruption of contact with the outside have on the guests? And how did the operators not lose the relational sense of care work?
The chapter presents the analysis of the results obtained from semi-structured interviews with eight coordinators of residential facilities for the elderly. It examines how the facilities are managed during the pandemic, the point of view of the coordinators regarding the experience of the elderly and family members, the personal reactions of the coordinators to the dramatic situation they have faced.
