[Autom. eng. transl.] The knowledge and analysis of one's own territory of reference constitute an established imperative for Personal Services. But what is good to look at? And above all, according to which logics of observation? The question is relevant, since the observation structures the meanings and, therefore, significantly affects the action of the Services. Conversely, the view of the territory can be channeled by consolidated operational practices and thus not capture significant elements of the human reality that surrounds it. The article focuses on some observation points typical of the Services and highlights their dichotomous characteristic, ie the tendency to make an inventory of problems, on the one hand, and of resources, on the other. An alternative, more promising way is to look for resources within problems, in the so-called experiential knowledge of people in difficulty.
