[Autom. eng. transl.] In 2013, the world beef market was still affected by the unsatisfactory price situation that had also characterized 2012, after three years characterized by high prices and positive progression. This has had repercussions on the overall production trend, a modest recovery that brought it back to the levels of the end of the last decade. In the European Union the reduction in production is due both to the heavy slaughter of calves and to the contraction in consumption, despite a modest improvement in the prices of slaughter animals. The partial indications for 2014 show a certain improvement in international prices, which however struggle to keep up with those of meat of other species.
