Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] In 2011 the world beef market, which had already emerged for two years with high prices and positive progression, further consolidated this trend. Overall production reacted to high prices with fairly substantial growth, also because international trade was in clear recovery. In the European Union, as in North America, however, production was held back by the dry climate, the need to rebuild the herds after the severe slaughter of previous years, as well as the downward trend in consumption.
