Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The protests that have been affecting various cities and towns in Italy since Friday 23 October are the product of emergency management in Italy.
In fact, there is still talk of an emergency: with a state of emergency extended to July and which, despite the margins of intervention in the summer months, did not produce appreciable results as regards the management of the crisis - as it is now - and not of an emergency , identified in a limited time duration and supported by the extensive crisis management literature.
The communicative pressure also transpires from the choice of words such as "urgency", "immediate interventions", which if they could have been the stylistic and communicative code of the first weeks of epidemic spread, now become a repetition to which few pay attention, being this the latter increasingly aimed at understanding the "new urgent measures to be adopted to overcome the emergency."
The communication of the crisis, the choice of words, timing, strategies, methods are fundamental for the effective and resilient management of critical events, while if implemented inadequately and inappropriately they produce negative and deleterious effects on the affected society. The ultimate and most dramatic result is to add chaos and uncertainty, producing a greater widespread sense of disorientation and helplessness.
