Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The Edison Foundation has carried out a study on behalf of Aspen Institute Italia to position Italy in the new G-20 geo-economy. GDP certainly remains the reference indicator for any type of comparative analysis of economic systems, but their increasing complexity is pushing researchers to carry out ever-broader reflections on measuring economic performance and social progress, as the recent Stiglitz-Sen-Fitoussi Report prepared on behalf of the French President Nicholas Sarkozy. Not only the income, but also the wealth of families, entrepreneurial dynamism, as well as environmental and quality of life aspects, are increasingly entering into considerations relating to the comparative measurement of well-being.
