Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] On the model of similar international experiences, even in Italy the production of the television soap opera - a "continuous cycle factory" that requires sustained rhythms of writing, shooting and editing, in addition to full control of environmental factors - has been structured (since the years Ninety) through the creation of specific production centers, or the (often exclusive) conversion of already existing spaces. Some productive “micro-worlds” were born, innervated by routines and professional cultures that are repeated for years, in a tight integration between an “Italian style” form of the study system and the supply needs of the networks. Through the analysis of the main national cases - the Telecittà Studios in San Giusto Canavese, where Vivere (Canale 5, 1999-2008) and Centovetrine (Canale 5, 2001-in corso) are produced; the RAI Production Center of Naples, seat of Un posto al sole (Raitre, 1996-in corso); the studies of Termini Imerese realized (among the controversies) for Agrodolce (Raidue, 2008-09) -, the essay intends to address one of the recurrent features of these productive centers: the occupation of marginal places in the Italian audiovisual geographies, between insularity productive, relations between the center (media and political) and the periphery, and even the slightest enlargement of television space imagery with the prudent and thrifty use of locations and filming outdoors.
