Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] A dense web of references links patriotic texts to the biblical narrative of sacred history. The Bible is cited in a paradigmatic function, as a figure of the destiny of independence towards which all peoples are guided by divine will. The patriotic lyric reactivates, in particular, the Old Testament image of a pugnacious "God of armies", who performs wonders for the liberation of the chosen people and raises heroes from his bosom. In particular, Amedeo Ravina, Goffredo Mameli, Giovanni Berchet, Terenzio Mamiani, Gabriele Rossetti, Niccolò Tommaseo, Luigi Mercantini are reviewed.
