Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The market cannot do without gratuitousness. This concept of Benedict XVI in his encyclical Caritas in veritate defies the common idea that wealth arises from the encounter of different egoisms. The current economic crisis that affects the countries of the old continent seems to confirm the Pope's assumption, and opens up the possibility of reconsidering some principles that until recently were considered the cornerstones of the world economy. The contributions of this book affirm, from different points of view, that in order to have a truly sustainable economic development it is necessary to strengthen the family, putting it in the conditions that allow it to flourish, to grow and to carry out its irreplaceable role in society.
