Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Introduction Catheter ablation is an effective therapy for rhythm control in atrial fibrillation (DOES). The objective of the study is to compare the costs of catheter ablation of AF performed with TactiFlex and TactiCath respectively in a real hospital scenario. Methods Having assumed the same clinical efficacy and safety for the two alternatives, an analysis was carried out of cost minimization to evaluate the economic impact. The average durations of the two procedures hard times were calculated on a sample of patients treated at an Italian hospital. Analyzes of direct medical and direct non-medical costs were carried out adopting the hospital perspective. dale. A univariate sensitivity analysis was conducted to evaluate the uncertainty in the parameters chosen. Results From the hospital's perspective, the TactiFlex procedure is preliminarily estimated to cost €168 more than the alternative, with an average gain of 57.3±9.5 minutes in the availability of the operating room employed and personnel involved in the ablation. The most determining parameters undermining the uncertainty in the results are the hourly salaries of the staff and the costs of the scaling catheters. Conclusions The adoption of the TactiFlex catheter can increase the efficiency in the use of operating rooms and personnel involved in AF ablations, and reduce the risk of complications attributable to longer duration of anesthesia.
