Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] An increasing number of applications based on artificial intelligence are used in the insurance sector. The essay analyses this trend with specific reference to insurance distribution for the role it plays in the relationship between insurance companies and customers/insured. The analysis is conducted on the basis of the recently published European Regulation on Artificial Intelligence (“AI Act”) and aims to evaluate the coexistence of the new regulation with that regulating insurance distribution. In particular, it focuses on the artificial intelligence systems suitable to be classified as high risk if used with respect to certain insurance products, and on the obligations that arise for companies and insurance intermediaries that use artificial intelligence systems even when not classified as high risk.
