Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The definition of an image of the family in our twentieth-century literature is not at all simple, indeed, from the point of view of its univocal and coherent focus, rather problematic. In the space of a century the structure of the family has changed a lot and with a certain rapidity compared to previous centuries, and the way our authors take it into consideration has changed. We can find most of the references in the first part of the century, when the avant-garde movements and the caesura brought about by the First World War put into crisis existential and social models, linguistic and literary forms, values and paradigms of reference consolidated and considered until to shortly before as immutable. The generational clash has never become more radicalized than in this period, posing a crisis and questioning above all the father-son relationship. A crisis of the patriarchal conception, in a profound sense, and not just a contestation of the paternal figure and his role as will happen after the Second World War, culminating in the filial rebellion of the 1960s. At the same time, with the beginning of the century, the way of conceiving the role of women also changed, as they laboriously began a path of social emancipation, initially restricted to a few sensational cases, but destined to gradually involve (and often upset) an ever greater number. of family situations and relationships until reaching, here too, the extremist claims of radical feminism of the Seventies. Regarding these themes from the beginning of the century and their influence on the literary representation of the family, various authors can be taken into consideration.
