Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] In the context of contemporary anthropological and philosophical-political reflection, a tension emerges, very often unresolved, between a need for
individual and socio-political freedom which often takes on the tone of a real e
one's own claim on the level of rights and a profound relational need with others and with others within oneself. The latter, sometimes, translates into the need for a stable and profound relationship, even configuring itself as a need for "belonging" to a cultural, religious or socio-political identity which, in turn, defines, at least partially, some aspects of own identity. Within the contemporary philosophical-political debate, the positions taken on this issue are divergent: they range from liberal individualism to forms of collectivism, from a holistic communitarianism to liberal perspectives that are also holistic and, again , from a republicanism rooted in the primacy of individual freedom to a vision of "critical" republicanism. The purpose of this essay is to verify whether (and in what way) Giussani's thought is able to illuminate the philosophical reflection concerning these issues, offering a hermeneutic perspective capable of reconfiguring the ongoing debate
