Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Macroeconomic and socio-political shocks, commodity crises, inflationary pressure and interest rate growth, growing attention to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects, exponential technological/digital innovation and, last but not least, constant regulatory evolution, are among the main forces shaping the environment in which banks operate. Added to this are the effects induced by the COVID-19 pandemic. The lockdown measures and restrictions imposed have caused an unprecedented economic contraction and financial instability. The health crisis has led to a generalized asphyxiation of economic activities, and, in some cases, to the bankruptcy of companies and industrial districts.
