Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] After a panorama on the current situation of publishing and reading in Italy, the essay critically deals with narrative works that have placed at the center the theme of lunatic asylums and madness, starting from the character of Cesare Lombroso elected to investigator, up to suffered experiences offered not as a diary, but as a story.
