Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The object of the article is the correspondence between the very young Cardinal Federico Borromeo, in Rome, and some members of the Mantuan dynasty (preserved between the Mantua State Archive and the Ambrosian Library of Milan). The letters, many of which request and exchange gifts and favors, are significant manifestations of a lasting relationship, and reveal some details of the cardinal's early Roman life.
