[Autom. eng. transl.] Developmental age means that phase of life, between birth and adulthood, where the three fundamental processes of growth, maturation and development are activated. Growth means the increase in the size of the parts of the body and as a whole; maturation is instead the process that leads every tissue, organ or system of the body from a state of temporary immaturity and efficiency to the biologically mature state. While the processes of growth and maturation depend mainly on genetic factors and to a lesser extent on the environment in which man grows, those relating to the development of the person are in large part influenced by the educational opportunities that the family, the school, the society and sports associations will be able to offer in the developmental age.
