Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay focuses on the relationship between corpora and lexicography and, in particular, on the concept of semantic prosody introduced by J. Sinclair. Analyzing the Russian word obeščat '(promise) it is illustrated how corpora offer a valid contribution in clarifying aspects sometimes ignored by dictionaries, such as, precisely, the semantic prosody, or the tendency of a lexeme to occur in positive or negative contexts.
