Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] In this essay, the "question of technique", which we could define as the great topic that has agitated philosophical thought since the second half of the twentieth century, is posed as a question of the sense - meaning and direction - of the transformations that the new information technologies imprint on some our personal, individual, human experiences. We live in an age of technological domestication. Machines have become familiar to us, they follow us everywhere, we take them with us, we depend more and more on them for our work, our leisure and our loved ones. Beyond utopias and dystopias, this essay therefore assumes, as a perspective, that of the user of the new technological artifacts and attempts to investigate some experiences. The category of being elsewhere defines one of the most relevant and, perhaps, least investigated aspects of our experience marked by relationships with and through machines. The digital environment makes present what is absent, allows us to transcend times and places, transforms the dimensions of power and relationships, provides us with a disembodied experience increasingly exposed to the simulative and emulative dimensions of artificial intelligence.
