Abstract
The author, after analysing thoroughly the concept of evaluation and its different dimensions, focuses upon the application of the evaluative practices to public employment services of some countries which were particularly successful under this respect: USA, Australia, United Kingdom, Sweden. The author concludes her work drawing from the comparative analysis some suggestions, both methodological and substantial in nature, for the Italian experience.
