Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay follows the evolution of the Normans from the tenth to the thirteenth century in Europe and in the East until the conquest of Antioch and the subsequent loss of the eastern territory. He also follows the Altavilla brothers and their heirs until the formation of the kingdom of Sicily. Attention is also given to the relationship with the papacy between the 11th and 12th centuries.
