Abstract
The knowledge and practice of sounds which preceded the birth of phonetics as a science came essentially from marginal disciplinary domains in comparison to linguistics (such as medicine, pathology, singing).
Within the framework of this intervention, I will go through 100 years of the history of phonetics, dividing it into three main stages, trying to show the contribution of verbal sciences to the development of learning strategies for pronouncing the French language.
