Abstract

The first part of this contribution focuses on the gap between the researches that mainly concern the 12th and 13th centuries carried out in various European regions and those not always attentive to the papal delegated jurisdiction. Papal judges delegated were an important tool to strengthen the central role of the papacy in the Middle Ages. Their careers and the extension of the model of the papal delegated jurisdiction into secular and monastic world are signals how this instrument was important for the Church government. The presentation of the contributions gathered in this volume follows.
