Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Physical education, understood as a specific disciplinary context present in Italian secondary schools of first and second degree, today requires a profound revision. Not only for the terminological aspect but also for the aspects concerning purposes, methods and contents. Consequently, the discipline that educates this function can only be called "motor education" understood as education of man and his sense-motor system to be trained and strengthened on the perception axis - mental processing - action. The neurosciences have confirmed the importance of this unique and inseparable mind-body system going to scientifically sanction the overcoming of that dualism that still today connotes our educational systems and not least the current scholastic systems. Physical education, in order to comply with what neuroscience claims, should be proposed through forms, didactic exercises and problem-situations that can involve students in an active and total way.
