Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay examines the contribution of Giuseppe Lombardo Radice on the subject of physical education for elementary school in the period in which the pedagogist from Catania elaborated his own reflection on the teaching of this discipline, that is, since 1913, when his volume " didactics and memories of master's experience ”, to 1923, the year in which he wrote the programs for primary education within the Gentile reform. The text documents how the Lombard-Radician proposal for motor activities in the primary curriculum legitimized the educability of the body through a clear pedagogical alternative theory to positivism, expressed an original reinterpretation of the didactic orientation of a playful type of late 19th-century ancestry and was in harmony with a democratic conception of school education.
