Abstract
This reading of Canto I, iii of Matteo Maria Boiardo’s Inamoramento de Orlando places the narrative segment within the broader context of the romance and identifies its main structural features. It highlights some of Boiardo’s recurring compositional patterns, particularly his reversal of certain traditional conventions. Some linguistic aspects are also examined.
