Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The main theses of the volume are two. The first requires for the development of the South the creation of a strong "real economy" in which organizational capacity and productive rationality apply to all sectors, avoiding the discretion of financial interventions that arise and end in that assistance that mortifies the qualified human resources of the South. The second thesis is that the strengths and excellence already present in the real economy of the South demonstrate its innovativeness, but they are not sufficient for an area with 26 million inhabitants. The real key to the emergence of the South lies in the integration between agriculture, industry, tourism, logistics and infrastructure, also with a Mediterranean perspective. These are the themes along which the volume unfolds, but also the desirable development hypotheses for the future of Italy.
