Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The border of the diocese of Vercelli extends eastwards over the course of the Sesia and includes the territory of the parish church of Biandrate. The reasons for this encroachment cannot be linked to a change in the course of the river and in any case are prior to the tenth century. They therefore date back to the first phase of the spread of Christianity in the countryside of these areas of "Liguria" to the west of Milan, the capital of the empire.
